GGG v Brook
What a fight, both unbeaten. Would be the biggest upset since Honeyghan beat Curry in '86.

As a betting man I've gone for a Golovkin stoppage between rounds 10 and 12

When does that happen then?

Could have sworn I mentioned 2 weeks ago that I'b backed Djokovic for £25 for the US Open and I swear he lost last night.

No doubt you were on Millwallonline when it was written so missed it.

That's right, not everyone has the sort of sporting knowledge you need to win every bet you ever place.

The fight was called off at the right time, anyone saying different is a twat.

GGG has a granite jaw, it gets him through fights, his all round ability isn't brilliant as he gets hit far to easily, but his chin and power get him through. He wouldn't last long against the real greats of the division though. Love him as a fighter and a bloke though, he's one of the best out there right now

Re: GGG v Brook
I do love WHO, all the worlds leading boxing experts rave over GGG and have him as the best pound for pound, but on here it would appear most boxers back in the day would have smashed him easily, as he isn't all that.

Respect for Brook for even agreeing to the fight and it cracks me up that the coward Eubank had the nerve to have a pop, even though his arse fell out massively at the thought of fighting Golovkin.

No chance of a rematch.

Result would be exactly the same.

Re: GGG v Brook
He had his eye socket smashed in, and Brook admitted he was seeing double. Yet the professionals of WHO feel they should have let the fight go on?

Nonsense. GGG would have destroyed him and caused some SERIOUS damage.

Shame, I'd expect rematch. Brook had GGG in situations he's never encountered before, Brook is clearly the better boxer but GGG's power and aggressiveness would have come through eventually.

Froch dismissed fighting Golovkin as he said he punched like a mule. In retrospect I would have loved to have seen that fight.

Re: GGG v Brook
If Brook's corner really wanted to protect their man maybe they shouldn't have taken on this mismatch.

The fight was fairly even for the first 4 rounds and at the first sign of trouble they threw the towel in. Brook was still bobbing and weaving and should have been allowed the chance to ride it out. He could well have gone anyway in the next round but we'll never know.

Yes, fighters need to be protected and if he was getting badly beaten then the referee would have stopped the fight. I don't buy into this philosophy of not wanting to see fighters get hurt. Of course we wasnt to see them get hurt. That is the whole point.

We also want them to be able to walk away from the ring and not suffer long term damage. The referee should be trusted to look after the boxers in the ring. If Brook's team were that worried about what GGG might do then they should have stayed at home.

I would have been gutted if I paid to see that.

Mismatch. Fun though. Brook fought well but never had the power to be in that contest. GGG could have soaked those uppercuts and jabs up all night while breaking up his opponent. Dangerous, really.

Agreed, he did well but the corner did right in protecting their man.

Reflecting on the fight Golovkin is the real deal but a We have British middleweights that are capable of giving him a 12 rounder.

I think Eubank has the youth and ability, great atmosphere last night and Ggg will be keen to come back.

GGG v Benn/Eubank and co would have been a great match up... think Hagler, Hearns, Sugar Ray, Duran would have done the job on him mind you... but they were on another planer... and always will be

GGG was never rocked he even said he takes bigger shots in sparring. Benn would have been destroyed by GGG.
